Scottish Widows Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions

You need to read this important document. It explains the service you are being offered and how you will pay for it. For any business you transact through us we will classify you as a ‘Retail Client’. The terms for a Retail Client are listed below and it is acknowledged you agree to these Terms & Conditions should you transact business through us.

Whose products do we offer?

Investments

We offer products from a limited number of companies for Stocks & Shares Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs). Please refer to the ISA section of our website for details of the ISA providers.

Pensions

We offer Stakeholder Pensions through Scottish Widows

Which service will we provide you with?

You will not receive advice or a recommendation from us. We may ask some questions to narrow down the selection of products that we will provide details on. You will then need to make your own choice about how to proceed.

Investments

You should note that with all investments their value (unit price) can fall as well as rise and as a result you may not get back the full amount you invested. Where past performance figures are listed these should not be seen as a guide to future returns.
Where you decide to transfer any investments you should be aware that there may be a charge applied from the existing provider and that there is the potential for loss of growth or income, following a rise in the markets, whilst your transfer remains pending.

What will you have to pay us for our services?

Investments

We are paid by way of commission (through product charges). If you buy a financial product, we will normally receive commission on the sale from the product provider. Although you pay nothing up front, that does not mean our service is free. You still pay us indirectly through product charges. Product charges pay for the product provider’s own costs and any commission. These charges reduce the amount left for investment. If you buy direct, the product charges could be the same as when buying through a firm, or they could be higher or lower. The amount of commission we receive will vary depending on the amount you invest and (sometimes) how long you invest, or your age. Details of our commission structure is listed below;

Lump Sum Investments & Pensions

We will receive up to 3% of the amount you invest at outset and 0.5% of the fund value every year. For example, for every £1,000 you invest and hold within your fund(s) we will receive £30 at outset and £5 each year. We will also receive 3% of any amount you invest into the structure deposit but no amount thereafter.

Regular Premium Savings

We will receive up to 3% of each regular premium contribution you make and 0.5% of the fund value each year. For example, if you pay £100 per month we will receive £3 for each contribution paid and £5 each year for every £1,000 held within your fund(s).

Regular Premium Pensions

We will receive 1% of each regular premium contribution you make and 0.5% of the fund value each year. For example, if you pay £100 per month we will receive £1 for each contribution paid and £5 each year for every £1,000 held within your fund(s).
