Accessibility
This website has been built to be as accessible to as large a percentage of the population as possible, including those people with visual, auditory, motor or cognitive disabilities, and those using less common browsers, different computer systems, PDAs and mobile phones.
Browsing
All web pages produced for this website are written to the XHTML 1.0 Transitional standard, use Cascading Style Sheets for presentation and aim to meet the “AA” conformance level of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This means this website should be able to be viewed in all modern browsers, regardless of platform or device. We have used a popular and widely available assistive browsing application called Window-Eye to ensure the web site is usable by partially sighted users who may be using a screen reader. There are several different readers available, some of which are free to users.
Some older browsers (e.g. Internet Explorer 4/5.5 and Netscape 4) do not fully comply with these web standards. A minority of our visitors still use these browsers and, as a result, will not experience the site as we have intended. They will be able to read the pages and navigate the site, but the site will look basic in comparison.
How to use PDF files
This site uses ‘portable document format’ (PDF) files. In order to view these documents you will need Adobe Reader software. This software is included on many systems but if it is not on yours you can go to the Adobe website and download it for free.
